Seafarers Recruitment

Passenger Ship and Ferry Jobs

Passenger ships include cruise ships, ro-ro passenger ferries and smaller passenger vessels. Besides the deck and engine departments, they have a large hotel department. Every crew member has emergency duties for the safety of passengers.

Work on board

  • Frequent musters and drills with passengers on board
  • Ro-ro passenger ships: loading and lashing of vehicles, ramps and hull doors, watertight integrity
  • Large electrical plants and often diesel-electric propulsion, so ETOs and electrical ratings are in demand
  • Many nationalities on board and strict public health and hygiene rules in the galleys

Certificates and training

  • Crowd management training (STCW Reg. V/2) for personnel designated to assist passengers in emergencies
  • Crisis management and human behaviour training (STCW Reg. V/2) for the master, chief officer, chief engineer, second engineer and others responsible for passenger safety
  • Passenger safety, cargo safety and hull integrity training (STCW Reg. V/2) on ro-ro passenger ships
  • Normal certificates of competency for each rank, and Basic Training (STCW Reg. VI/1) for all crew

What to put in your CV

Ship type (cruise ship, ro-ro passenger ferry), passenger capacity, trade area, your STCW Reg. V/2 certificates and, for engineers and ETOs, the type of propulsion and electrical plant.
